The Kindness Project | 2020 | Spatial Design, Branding, Typography
In this world of strict self-interest, I am yet another person who has taken upon the responsibility, but through this project to remind you about the influence of kindness on the user and the person who is the experiencer.
The reason behind my taking up this initiative was one of the things I have been nurtured with since childhood, i.e; being kind. So, after studying the kinds of kindness that exist and what we as individuals can do, I decided to go ahead with the kindness towards saving food and in turn being kind to the less fortunate.
To educate folks about the chosen kindness, I went along with the idea of creating a space in a public area where, as soon as people would step in, they would realize how ignorant we are towards food being wasted and the needy. It would educate them as to how by being kind, one can create an impact and influence the world.
The banner below shows the name and the logo for the space — The Kind Corner. Since the campaign is directed toward the general public, the design has been kept simple and depicts the meaning.
The logo uses two fonts — Preta (Ao Sol) and Poppins (black). They create a good contrast and enlighten the word ‘Kind’ enough to be noticed. Below are the other primary color options for the logo.
Below are the snippets of how the space was imagined:
The space where folks enter.
The space in the middle.
The space towards the end.
The front wall.
The space creates a connection.
The end wall.
Below are the final posters with quotes that folks can relate to. The intent was to keep them short, simple, and direct which would hit the emotion.
On the sides are the two sets (yes and no) of the same interactive screen which would be displayed in the front and start with a very simple question ‘Do you like puppies?.’ This would attract the users and in the end leave them with an intriguing thought.
Note: Watch one at a time.
Below is the visual for the introduction for the user to see as soon as they enter the space.
Below is the visual for the flyer (front and back) for the user to take away as they leave the space.
Below are the visuals of the stickers that would be on the flooring. The intent is to show the amount of food being wasted at different events.
Below is the rendered version of the space. The flooring has been kept wooden and the walls are dark enough for the folks to notice the campaign.
Below is a sneak peek of how it would look along with a human to be sure of the size.
